Women in LBM: Lunch & Learn - The Permission Problem

Why We Wait for Someone Else to Tell Us It's Okay

What are you waiting for permission to do?

Say no? Ask for help? Speak up? Take credit for your work? Pursue an opportunity? Protect your time? Change your mind? Maybe even admit that you want something different?

As capable women, we often know when something needs to change. The harder part can be giving ourselves permission to actually change it.

Join Dena Cordova-Jack for the next Women in LBM Lunch & Learn (I know you'll put in data, time, yada yada yada) as we explore the subtle ways approval, perfectionism, fear of disappointing others, and our own expectations can keep us waiting for someone else to tell us it's okay.

Through candid conversation, practical insights, interactive polls, and a little humor, we'll explore how to recognize where we're waiting for permission, and begin replacing that hesitation with greater confidence and personal agency.

You'll leave with practical ways to:

  • Recognize where you may be waiting for approval you don't actually need
  • Understand what's really behind the hesitation
  • Separate thoughtful decision-making from fear and self-doubt
  • Give yourself permission to ask, act, change...or say no
  • Take one small step toward something you've been putting off

Because sometimes we already know what we need to do....we're just waiting for someone to tell us it's okay.

Spoiler alert: No one may be coming with the permission slip.
